Default Help with tuners

I was hoping for some advice on replacing these tuners. The hole seems to be 6cm, but the metal piece appears to drop this to 4cm on top of the headstock. It also looks like the tuner is about 6cm tall above the headstock. Also notice the two screws in the back.

I haven’t been able to find replacements that match this size. It’s an old Ventura from the 70s I think, and I want to make it playable for sentimental reasons.

It has a metal “fret” in front of the nut, before the first fret, so if at all possible I want to match the size of the existing tuners to not change the interaction with these components.

If anyone has a link or advice I’d really appreciate it.

StewMac carries tuners that look like yours, but you will have to measure. They provide dimensional drawings too.

Thanks for the link, but those appear to be for 5/16 holes instead of what appears to be 6cm hole that drop to 4cm with the bushing.

I'm not sure where you're getting 4cm to 6cm from (that's over 2 inches at the bottom). I think your mistaking the 1/16 inch markings on your tape for mm. Your holes are about 4/16" to 6/16", so 5/16" is in the ballpark

You're welcome. Working in an engineering company in the UK, you learn to play close attention to the scale being used, usually from experience!

These tuners commonly have a 6mm post, installed in an 8 to 10mm hole in the peghead. If the replacement tuners have the same size post (very likely), then you do not need to change bushings. Height of the post may vary slightly, but it should not affect function of the zero fret.
