Default first "real" snow of the year

Nice to wake up to this morning. Not much, just a few cm. It's already melting. The house is finally starting to dry out after a very soggy fall so the guitars are out of their cases.

Gosh. Here in Iowa that wouldn't be considered a real snow. A good dusting maybe. A real snow would be at least three inches or more that doesn't melt off the concrete.

More is on the way

Hence the use of quotations... I'm in Canada, dude. I know what snow is.

Average annual snow fall:
Sioux City = 32"
Ottawa = 88"

Ahem...

Annual snowfall
Syracuse NY =124 inches. Syracuse folk know what snow is.
More than the two of you combined.

Where I live in Ohio we get about 35” / year. That’s right around 32-33” too much.
2-3” on Christmas Day would suffice.

Looks like it'll be almost 80 degrees and sunny yet again all week here in SoCal. An expensive place to live but SO worth it never to have to see that kind of weather again!

Here in NE Texas we get maybe an inch or two of snow every two to three years on average. In other words, it only snows maybe once in two or three years, but then we get maybe an inch or two. Nobody here knows how to handle it, so schools shut down for even a dusting.

On the downside, Texas summers are brutal, so every place has it's pluses and minuses I suppose.

I hope this will translate or make sense. We've had 3 early snows and some unusual early cold. Yesterday November 8 in Wisconsin one of my wife's students new to the area said. "Ms. G, I'm glad winter is over because it really is bad.".

Maybe it was same time when my "lunch ride" gang had our first fat bike ride on snow.

I'll gladly concede.

Though people from Alaska say our weather is much worse then theirs.

Heh, heh. Exactly.

Meanwhile, I moved to NorCal to escape the PA winters of my first 32 years of life, and I’m typing this from 8 degrees north of the equator, where it never gets below the 70s. That being said, I’m happy for all of you snow fans.

This was the third snow and last week's "lunch ride". When we can, a group of mostly tech workers meet for a ride, solving work problems, and sometimes the world's problems.

In summer our first world problem is a clean up before back to the office. In winter it's where to we start. You warm up faster if you start your ride going up but you pretty much need a Subaru to get back up the service road in winter.

Technically our 2nd snowfall of the year. The 1st one had fully melted but this one may stay a while. That's what I'm looking at this morning! Polar Bear swim anyone?

Hahaha...no thanks. I spent the earlier part of the morning walking the beach and watching the surfers do their thing. Cold though at around 58 degrees.
