Red Eye Preamp,quick question
Hi ;I was thinking of purchasing this pedal. I play thru the Fishman soloamp 330. It has a button on it for 48 v. Will this power the Red Eye pedal? I am trying to avoid battery use . All these pedals just eat batteries as you know. Thanks

Yes, 48v will feed the RedEye. I really like this pedal, I own the 2-channel version. Another pedal you should have a look at is the SunnAudio Prestine. Fed by 48v also but offers more EQ and even a HPF.

HPF means high pass filter, i.e. a low end cut or rolloff. _RP

Depending on the pickup and stage volume you use a high pass filter can be really helpful. A soundboard transducer like the K&K pure western can sound overly boomy and may need some treatment in the low register. Setting the high pass filter at 80 Hz or higher helps a lot.

I switched to SunnAudio from a RedEye. The basic sound of the SunnAudio is warmer. The RedEye is no slouch. I have the first version, and don't need more EQ because I use Dazzos. I didn't need more EQ than the RedEye either. If you start with a good source you don't need it. I would not use a K&K without a hi pass filter and a couple of parametric built in to the pre. YMMV

As I understand it, any XLR will power your Red-Eye. I love mine. They did all the adjustments so I don't have to.

Another huge fan of the Sunnaudio Prestine. I had the Red Eye and very much appreciate the superior sound and flexibility of the Sunnaudio with K&K. Here's a good demo:
