Short scale cedar guitar under $2000
I'm looking for a short scale (around 25") guitar with a cedar top. I'm not really picky about the back and side - would be open to anything - slight preference for rosewood. Hoping to find something less 2000 or less but would consider opinions that cost a little more. My preference for nut width would be 1 3/4 or smaller, don't really like wider nuts.
Do any guitars fall into this criteria? |

I have a 25" Bedell Angelica Bellissima parlor (sunken Cedar/EIR) that I paid $2000 used. Look for one of those or one of their other parlors. They are all wonderful instruments.

Eastman E2OM
Cedar top. Solid sapele b/s. 1 3/4 nut. Way under budget, so I think the fact that it comes with a gig bag is forgivable. MSRP of $725

Just last night I got a 2021 Taylor 512ce 12 fret in mint condition for $2100.00. It’s cedar/mahogany. Very good first impressions. I just got done restringing it and plan on playing it a lot today. Bedell and Breedlove suggestions are certainly good ones too. Good luck. I thought about the Eastman but I think it has narrower string spacing than I wanted. They are a great deal though.

I just took a flyer and ordered a cedar and Rosewood guitar with a 1 3/4 neck from a Chinese company called Hsienmo. $1200 shipped. Custom order. You get to pick the body size, nut, fingerboard, material, etc. When I get it I’ll let you know how good it is. But the videos are very impressive. And a couple of people on this forum have given them a high recommendation.

I bought one of these about 2 years ago used from an AGF member. Like everyone else who posts about them, this is a hands-down great guitar. I enjoy my E2OM-CD as much as I do my other instruments costing 3, 4 and 5 times as much.

Look at a Furch Blue Cedar Mahogany. Used, they are way under your budget.

Yairi WY1TS. Stellar guitar, Cedar/Rosewood, OM cutaway, legendary guitar designed by Grateful Dead's Bob Weir. With electronics. Lucky folks can get one for under $2k.

For another way-under-your-budget option, Seagull is now doing a “heritage” version of their famous S6 cedar-topped sloped shoulder dread, with a short scale. They list the nut spec as 1.8”, but the Seagull’s with 1.8” nuts have a 1.5” string spacing at the nut, which is the same spacing used by most manufacturers for 1.75” nuts.

Seagulls were always the go choice here in Canada...

You could save yourself some money (possibly) and find a Seagull Entourage Mini Jumbo. A real hidden gem in the lineup (discontinued unfortunately). 1.72" nut, short scale. Surprisingly great sound for only a couple hundred bucks used.

The two guitars I bought from them are plenty for now and I just moved two other guitars out on consignment to make room for them. |
