000-18 I bought new and briefly had. Gaps where the neck met the body, had some odd creaking noises, sounded kind of meh when played. Conversely, my 00-18 has been amazing. Very glad I got rid of that 000-18.

Yamaha Silent guitar. I really wanted to like it, as it theoretically checked so many boxes. But there was so much wrong with it that I had to send it back almost immediately.

Which guitar disappointed me the most? That's easy. Was just posting about this on a different thread.

Taylor 814ce Builders Edition.
Beautiful example of attention to aesthetics.
Just wish more attention had been paid to tone.

I had a Bourgeois Banjo Killer where the b string was absolutely dead. I thought it could be a nut or saddle issue... maybe some poorly seated frets. After getting it checked out and set up, still had the same issue. Something was just amiss with this one. Sent it back to the dealer. I can't in good faith sell a guitar on to another player when I think the guitar is a total dud... doesn't seem fair to that person.

Otherwise, there have been many guitars that just weren't for me and my preferences but not many that I'd consider faulty/bad guitars.

Default My dissapointments

I bought an inexpensive Cort OM that aesthetically was stunning but acoustically was rather dead. The model was a L200ATV, torrified solid top. I expected a lot more from it. I ended up using it as part of a payment for a much more expensive guitar (a german Lakewood).

Maybe it sounded dead, or maybe I'm a Dread fan... I still don't know.

Taylor 312. I just found it lacking warmth that I prefer over time. Just personal preference, not a knock. The person that bought it from me is very happy with it.

I've had a couple purchases that I just didn't bond with, but the 'worst' was probably a Goodall TMhOM that I owned for a few weeks before selling it. It was my second Goodall, and it had a Low e string that was just kind of 'dead' especially around the G-note. No sustain. I sold it for a bit of a loss to a guy who was a heck of a musician and acknowledged the issue but thought that he could fix it. I tended to think it was just how the guitar was built, as I couldn't find anything wrong with the nut/saddle. I'm not sure if he ever did fix it, but I felt good selling it to someone with full disclosure.

(yes I admit I want one too )

Eastman e10 00ss for me. I purchased for a birthday gift to myself and within 3 weeks, the neck twisted. It had so much potential : ) Oh well, next up!

2024 Martin D18 Modern Deluxe. Too-high action, lower-than-optimal saddle, and just a disappointing, underwhelming tone. I couldn't wait to send it back.

That's too bad it didn't work out. If I had more money, I'd probably get the same Martin D-18 as you.

Did you have any problems returning it to the seller?

A little different take on "disappointment" for me...

1999 Martin HD28V. I'd dreamed of the perfect Martin since 1974, and 25 years later I finally owned it. Lush, resonant, rich, deeply satisfying tone. Perfect cosmetics. It was perfect...except for...

...that darn, skinny 1-11/16th nut, aaaaarrrrgh!!! I tried for years to get used to it, to learn to enjoy it, but eventually realized I just vastly prefer a 1-3/4" nut size. So close to perfect, yet in the end so very disappointing for me.

Hell, what didn't you like about it?

I have a steel-string version and am happy with it. I don't use it for performances or even informal get-togethers. Whenever I'm learning or practicing something, it's the guitar I use. Although it sounds great through headphones, I rarely have it plugged in to anything.

I will have to say it is a small body guitar that a luthier friend had built. It looks nice with solid spruce top and genuine mahogany body, but I could not get used to the trebly tone. It is a bit over built. But my friend had passed away and I don't have it in me part with it.

None. Great dealer to work with.
