Thank you everyone! I appreciate it. What is even better yet, it has been about 6-7 weeks and it is still together! I guess the true test is neck, bridge, and strings before it can really implode. LOL

Wow Tom, this looks fantastic!!
Sorry I missed this one. I'm not as regular here lately!
So glad to see others doing builds like this under the tutelage of master builders!!
Looking forward to hearing some sound clips!

beautiful guitar Tom. I know you had a good time building it in one of coolest shops with some of the coolest people. (the Texas heat wave not withstanding)

You and me both! Thanks for checking in, come back more often. We need the southern hemispheric input to round out the forum!

Thanks for looking. I did indeed have a great time, but can not speak for the other two in the shop that week. We got to this before the weather really heated up so that was fine.

Well, I have never had birthing pains, but for a while I thought the guitar had been kidnapped and I would never see it again LOL.

Now I am working with Ryan to see if we can figure out a time to get together to do the final work. I would love to be there when it is first strung and see how much the sound changes in the first hour and then the first 24 hours. I don't know if I will ever have the chance to do that again. I also have to figure out if I want to drive another 10 hours and an overnight to do that???

I see our woods are very similar although I had a lutz top on my build. Did you go back for the neck and final set-up?

Yes, I made my 10 hour drive. Sanded the saddle, made the nut. I’ve been playing for over 50 years but I even saw a new way to put the strings on.

That is really cool! Worth it!

Steve and Ryan got the guitar back today from the finisher. It looks amazing. The Walnut really pops and no runout in that top that I can see at all. Really excited now. Slap a neck on, glue on a bridge, saddle, nut, some tuners and strings and see what happens.

Very tasty - looks great! … must be a great feeling of anticipation… even more as you built it mostly yourself…

Any chance to give it a spin for BIG in 4 weeks ?
So soon !

All the best, Klaus

Yes, please, I want y'all to try it and tell me what you think! Looks like the plan might be to string it up for the very first time there so we can all hear how it changes over 24 hours!

Looks really great, Tom! It’s a wonderful combination of woods and these sets are particularly nice. Looking forward to seeing you and Kathy (and the guitar) soon!
