Default Tone - Rainsong SGA-FLE

Good Evening All:

I just recently purchased a Rainsong SGA-FLE guitar. This was an interesting purchase for me, since I had never even played or seen a carbon fibre guitar in person. But, I liked the way they look. I liked the way they sounded on clips I had heard. Until rainsong came out with their NS neck, I was not really interested. I've owned many 25.5" scale acoustics and I just prefer 24.9ish. (I don't own any standard scale acoustics anymore) I also like a 12 fret guitar, so the NS sounded perfect to me. (OM body size is also very "comfy")

Well, the shorty seemed to have all of the specs I wanted, so I ordered the SGA-FLE. (The shorty with abalone appointments and shark inlays) It arrived a few weeks ago and I have been enjoying it immensely. The tone is great (I think) and I love the feel. It's such a comfy guitar to play, which suits fingerstyle playing very well.

Anyways, I've been working on a song so that you can all hear what the guitar sounds like. Here it is! Jock O'Hazeldean

It's not "perfect", but I am by no means a perfect player. But, at least it should give a decent idea of how this guitar sounds. Let me know what you think! Thanks for listening.

AWESOME!!! You are in dropped tuning, I assume? Do you have Elixir lights on it? You play beautifully, thank you for sharing!

Beautiful tune and tone JG...(and yes the guitar too!!!)
I'm also considering my first CF...and your making me lean toward Rainsong...
I don't know if the moderators will allow it, but if you can post this in the show and tell section, more of our members could enjoy it...

This arrangement is in Open D tuning, but with a capo at the second fret. I am using elixir light pb. I want to try light medium elixirs next on this guitar as I think they would work well.

I posted a thread about just the song in the show and tell section as recommended.

Here is a pic that my wife snapped when I first pulled the rainsong out of the case! I had not even taken the "elixir" tag off yet.

They should definitely have a manufacturing plant in Carbondale, IL.

That guitars sounds super good and your playing is incredible too. How did you record this? Straight to mic, no eq? A UST blend/ mic blend with a touch of reverb?

That is wonderful playing, a beautiful piece and guitar, and nice tones. Thanks for sharing.

The CF guitars definitely have their own tone to them. Sometimes they almost have a "plucked" string tonality and to my ear, sometimes I think I hear a touch of a banjo-like tonality.

I see from your signature that both of your acoustic guitars are CF. What were your reasons for going with CF?
