So should we start a pool on what time the box gets opened? Since it "isn't cold" there is a possibility it gets played tonight?

Congrats on that new beauty!! The burst is really nicely done. It should have a big sound.

Just came back from going out to eat. The box still feels a little cool. I'll open it in the morning.

The box really isn't cold but I'm being patient. I'll probably take it out of the box before I go to bed and out of the case in the morning.

OK, the case is out of the box. It’s room temperature and probably fine but I’ll wait. I’ll play it in the morning.

Default NGD, IT'S OUT AN IT'S AMAZING; Martin 0000-18, 12fret

Holy Mackerel! Here's an early morning pic;

It's shockingly beautiful! I haven't tuned it up yet, but if it sounds only half as good as it looks, it will be amazing. I'm in love with it and I haven't even tuned it up yet! To the eye, the action looks just right. The finish is much darker than the Willcutt pics. This thing is way too beautiful!

I got up at 4 and raised the temp in the house. When I went badck to sleep I dreamed that when I opened the case the finish was all blistered and peeling off. Glad that was wrong. I'll tune it up and play in a little while and I'll let you know how it goes.

Love it! So glad it seems like it will be a keeper. Such a pretty guitar!

It’s like a whiskey sunrise! I realize that the ambertone finishes don’t affect the sound, but I imagine that that guitar will have a rich, amber tone.

Fantastic! I would have been up at 4am, opened it and played it.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you everyone. I jsut played it for an hour and a half and all I can say is;

Wow, Wow, Wow, Wow, Wow!

It's much different than the J body Martins. It's much crisper. It reminds me of the OM-18 that I sold in Spring, but without the edge that that one had. And unlike the two M-36's that I've played, this one does not lack any bottom end.

I've read, more than once, that to make a 12 fret Martin just extends the body up to the 12th fret. That's not true. They do move the soundhole south and they do lengthen the body some. And the whole guitar is a little shorter. And just like with Goldilocks, this one feels just right!

It feels perfectly set up and Willcutt did a great job of packing it. I usually play different guitars in the morning and afternoon, but I'll be leaving the others in their cases and playing this one again later.

I'll post more later!
