Default Sad day... Had to turn on my Heat for winter.

Well, the warm weather held out long this year but yesterday I had to put my heat on in my home for the first time since Spring. I don't think there will be a day where I won't turn it on in my office for months (I work from home).

How about you? I know many of our southern AGF'ers won't have this problem for a while ... do you still use your AC?

I won't ask my Hawaii AGF Friend when he'll turn on his heat .

Sad? Don't you mean Glad! I love winter in the north, Minnesota in our case. A time where we can be a bit lazy. I have an outdoor wood boiler and it has been burning for 2 months or so now.

Exactly! Leo Kottke, when asked in an interview how he got so good, said that the Minnesota winters afford plenty of time to do nothing but play guitar.

Turn on the heat, put the wood guitars safely in their cases, and bring out the carbon fiber instruments. These can stay out all the time and are always ready to play.

Ottawa is heating. The thermostat's been in heat mode for a while now, but the furnace has mostly just kicked in at night until the last week or so.

Almost 70 degrees here today, but we’ve had some chilly weather and turned our heat on last week. Time to buckle up for winter. I will say my wife both like cooler climates. We always feel like we can put on an extra layer of clothes when it’s cold outside. When we get scorched during hot weather there is no relief beyond going indoors with AC.

Denver is about to break its 87 year record for the latest snow of the year. Has been in the 70s until recently. November 15 it didn’t get below 60F all night. Never seen that in 30 years here. We should be cold….

We’ve had the heating on for a while here, being one hour’s drive south of Stockholm. We use the wood burning stove every day too.

Winter has its high points but I’m definitely a summer guy…

I'm a couple hours south of you. This autumn has been absolutely glorious, and no snow yet! I'm at el. 8500', and the snow starts up around 10k.

Our furnace clicks on in the early morning (it was 6 this morning, coldest yet), but not at all during the day. Nice warm afternoons.

But it gets chilly as soon as that sun goes behind the mountain at around 4:15 pm!

Southwest France, we’ve been heating just in the evenings for the past month—but, the thermostat has started kicking on in the early morning, too, this week.

Fortunately, that’s about as cold as it gets here for winter (other than a few, isolated dips to freezing or just under).

It probably won’t be too much longer before the mountain tops (Pyrénées) we can see to the south end up snow covered, which is always nice (but at a distance — thank you very much ).

Dru- Unlike for you, it's a happy day for me when I need to turn the heat on. It means that hurricane season is really over, and my electric bill will shrink (no need for A/C). That day came last week when temps here dropped to the low 40's overnight for several days.
