So, yes a take a break by design, sometimes a couple of days.

This exactly for me.

I work full time which is always >40 hrs. I volunteer for a couple agencies. And I mentor a few teens and undergrads. I’m lucky to play 4 hours/week. But I’ll take what I can get. After 44 years of it and a variety of gigging, it’s easy to sit down and enjoy a guitar or 3.

And I enjoy trying all sorts of new songs, styles etc. Along with noodling around with scales, modes and such.

I usually miss a couple of days a week of the guitar or the mandolin, usually not both. But sometimes after a day off, I seem to play a bit better. Must be that I need a break to settle down the arthritis pain in my fretting hand. I finally got over feeling guilty.
