binding coming off
My Martin OM28 , the binding is separating a little . The 99 % of it is in good condition. Is it ok to just put a little superglue in there and hold it there til it bonds. I don't think I need rebinding at this point.thanks.

Pics would help.
CA works well on binding but you can also create an absolute disaster too. |

fix a tiny bit of loose binding on a d-35 with superglue. And I can guess what the outcome would have been if I was the one squirting the glue out of the tube ... -Mike |

Down the page a bit:
https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=648910 Loose Martin binding is a VERY common topic in the "General" section. |

You can do that, BUT:
you may nullify warranty coverage if there are bigger problems down the road Hide or fish glue will work, and is much easier to deal with in the finishing process. Heating the binding to increase pliability will lessen clamping pressure Key is to clean all dust and old glue from channel, to get good surfaces for glueing, without creating further separation.

Warranty only applies to original owner. If you are, I’d suggest having it repaired under warranty.
Some guitars have had to undergo more than one repair. It’s an all too common issue with Martins. Roger |

A solid repair is a little CA glue under the loose binding. Soften the binding with a warm hair dryer. BUT...Worst mistake you can make is a drip of CA glue across the Nitro finish. If you don't feel confident, take it to someone.
Also, the tape it down and wick in thin glue method (found all over the internet) will almost alway require some finish repair since the glue inevitably wicks under the tape and melts it to the finish.

I'm guessing this is a 2012-2015 era guitar. Martin changed binding cements to comply with EPA rules (I think). Very common for the binding to turn loose at the waist. If you go over to the UMGF forum you'll find some good threads on the issue.
