Default The Score, your favorite

There is a program on the local Classical station here in Seattle "The Score" regarding different scores written for movies/plays. Two of my favorites are:

West Side Story, Very moving throughout , and

Love Story,

Yours?

Far, far too many to list here.

When my kids were all at home, they spent inordinate amounts of time listening to movie scores. Here's just the tip of the iceberg:

Star Wars
Lord of the Rings
Cast Away
Forrest Gump
Jurassic Park
Beasts of the Southern Wild
Moon
Spirited Away
The Incredibles
Up
Inception
127 Hours
Slumdog Millionaire
Dark Knight
Dunkirk
Fantastic Mr Fox
Arrival

and the list goes on....

''Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid'' It's one of my favorite Dylan albums.

I saw the movie when it came out. Didn't like the movie much but loved the music. Got the album as soon as it came out.

Local Hero.... yes that's a good one.

Somewhere in time - John Barry's theme is excellent.

Paint your Wagon - or anything else with Clint Eastwood singing

"Out of Africa" is nice, I still play it every now and then.

And good call on "Pat Garrett...." That one caused me to alter the way I play guitar in some small ways.

Lessee...

The Patriot by John Williams - wonderful melodies

Master and Commander by Christopher Gordon - brilliant minimalism
Dunkirk by Hans Zimmer - groundbreaking and breathtaking use of Shepherd's Tones
Battle of Britain by Rod Goodwin with Sir William Walton - Goodwin's concluding End Title is inspiring
Practically anything by Jerry Goldsmith - beauty and innovation

Far too many to list, but the following have good title tracks/scores;

Goldfinger / Skyfall
Les Mis / Oliver Twist / Sound of Music
The Long Riders
Local Hero

We can also now include Bo Rhap as a cd of the soundrack is available - that will be a popular choice on here, not!

Last of the Mohicans - 1992 version

While Trevor Jones wrote the score, the driving fiddle music during the chase scene is a tune called "The Gael" by Dougie Maclean. Ciarán Brennan of Clannad wrote the love them "I Will Find You" which is sung in English, Mohican and Cherokee.

Film Clips with the main theme

Clannad performing "I Will Find You" at Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin.

Trevor Jones conducting

Makes me want to watch the movie again!

Me, Myself & Irene.

All Steely Dan covers. I have the CD and not all the songs are in the movie.

Also very funny movie.
