Volume pot discovery with my Gibson L-5
I was recording a jazz big band album a couple weeks ago and I wanted a bit more acoustic tone coming thru my amp. I found that by turning the volume pot down from 10 to 9 really made the tone less electric/more acoustic.

L-5CES or L-5C? It's important, you need to tell us.
My L-5C with a Lollar Johnny Smith PU is definitely like you describe. But I'm one of those weird guys who turn the amp up first, then turn the guitar volume up, so I usually end up with the guitar volume at 5 or maybe even less. OTOH, I don't have a tone knob, so I don't mind the treble roll-off that comes with that. |
