Bracing pictures are my favourite part of the build process, especially one as precise as the one above.

A small question. I noticed the specs indicate the length is a little longer than the traditional Martin 12 fret 00 of 24.9", is there any advantage for tonal reasons for having a longer scale for 12 fret 00? (sorry if it's a stupid question...)

ewh, I expect that the long scale will give a little more power and articulation to the bass, as it typically does.

The neck is shaped, and I decided to veneer the rear of the headstock with Brazilian rosewood.

John doesn't like bound headstocks, so on the face I used a curly maple veneer under the Brazilian one, and beveled the edge to give it a more finished look.

And the end graft is in. I used cutoffs from the sides and bookmatched them. This guitar will also be bound with cutoffs from the sides (it was an oversized side set) so Brazilian is a major theme.

It's well known that herringbone contributes significantly to vintage tone.

While I am *always* hoping for a florentine cutaway, I realize that builder and customer aesthetics always take precedent!

There should be more cool 00 cutaway guitars in this world, and I am glad to witness the creation of this one (despite the long-scale)!

I do Florentines, Larry. And short scales.

I believe I found the inspiration for Howard's bracing. What do you think:
