Really beautiful. I love the modern look with the understated appointments. Very classy, indeed.

And...how does it sound? I would love to hear your opinion of the white spruce as a tonewood.

Well, it sounds somewhat like this when played by a mediocre, mistake-prone player who doesn't have good recording equipment. This is with no effects, brand new PB strings, and a Dunlop Gator pick.

As for the white spruce, I'd be curious to try more of it. I've only had my hands on this one piece so I can't make blanket statements. When I got to my desired long grain stiffness, the cross grain stiffness was lower than I was expecting. It was nice and light and lively though and I think the sound came out fine.

Sounds nice through my little speakers. Should open into something even nicer. Thanks for posting the recording.

Kent, it really kinda boggles the mind to think how good of a guitar player you would be if you played them as much as you build them! I think your playing has a lot of soul and expression and some deft licks to keep the musical dialog cruising along.
Great guitar- congratulations, man. I don't have one of my own guitars yet either. I was thinking, maybe #100- sometime in the next year or so.
Play every day, right?

Nice job. Now will you make the time to play this beauty on a regular basis ?

I've actually been playing a fair amount lately, for me anyway. I will be playing even more soon as I'm heading out on a long vacation with this guitar and my Voyage Air for the week we're in canoes! Now, if I can just finish packing, shut down the computer, and get out the door...

Thanks Kent, yeah doing great...... 2 kids in college keeps me working lots of hours at my real job, but I am going to build a few this year as I have the itch to do so. Should see a build thread soon, just going to have some fun and build it the way I want to do it. Enjoy your vacation!!

Good to hear ! I've been shocked by the number of luthiers who comment that they don't even own one of their own guitars because there is no time to build them and then to find the time to play them. Also interested to note your taking a voyage air on the water rather than one of your outstanding builds. Tippy canoe and Tyler too. Smart ! Good luck, have fun and stay dry.

John

Default Bravo

I love the sound of this guitar, Kent. It's got distinctive clarity, and the sustain and overtones are beautiful. No need for effects! Nice playing, too!

I'm continuing to thoroughly enjoy both your Engelmann/BRW GA (#31) and Redwood/Ziricote Concert (#84). While both continue to mature, #31 in particular seems to be developing an even more impressive, sweet balance of fundamental and over tones.

Default Are you irish ?

Took a closer listen to the tone on this guitar. It is awesome. For me, at least, the mids and lows have a Celtic quality to their tones. Love it !
