Default Kottke on NPR Oct 21 2020

Sorry if this has already been posted but I saw it this weekend and want to make sure fans don't miss out-and maybe there will be some new fans!

Default Kottke in his own orbit

Kottke has always been his own person. He has managed this balance between a true master of his instrument but also this disheveled indifference about it all. He wears his talent anywhere but on his sleeve. I always feel like when he puts down the guitar he will go out into the garage and fix the mower.

He sure pulls a steady stream of sound out of his guitar, but notable that he is just so good at picking melody lines out of fairly simple chord shapes. (What kind of guitar was that, can't quite identify the logo on the headstock unless that was a custom design.)

As a bass player who generally abhors the idea of using a pick, I did appreciate that Mike Gordon used a pick with palm muting to match the rather bouncy and staccato feel of Leo's picking.

Love me some Leo! One of my all time favorites.

Got to shake his hand once--hoping just a little of the magic from his right thumb would rub off onto mine. I think a little did. Ok, maybe a "micro" amount.

I hadn’t seen this info ... interesting that it’s smaller, shorter scale and “oiled” finish. Thanks for posting this
