Pickguard on a CF guitar.
For looks I'm thinking of putting
A small white pickguard on my RS Shorty. Anyone here done this. Any adverse effect to tone?? |

Doubtful that it would affect the tone perceptibly. I am generally a no pick guard guy on most guitars - I don't really need them, and to my eye PG's are NOT an aesthetic improvement. However, my WS-1000 has a clear pick guard that I applied years ago. My playing has no need for one, but I often let people try out the "cool exotic carbon fiber guitar", and I have no control over their pick technique.

I've always put thin black pick guards on my Rainsongs - I liked the look and the slight tonal difference...

I put a gloss black Taylor-style pickguard on my OM Concert (almost identical to your Shorty). It's purely cosmetic, as I play 100% fingerstyle. I just feel that guitars don't look complete without one.
It has made absolutely no difference in tone that I can hear. I got mine from Terrapin Guitars. Hope this helps. |

Thanks. My other guitars dont have them.
And I dont need them as well. But I think white pickguards on Black guitars looks really cool. |

I don't generally like pickguards, my WS-3000 came with one installed, and I have never bothered to remove it though:

A fellow CF player asked if I planned to put a clear pickguard on the X30.
I'm seriously considering it.

I could see using a clear FG300 style pickguard. I'm a sucker for pointy pickguards.

Here is the WS-3000 with the "cf pattern" guard:

When I first got my Emerald X7 about four years ago I was playing it and discussing putting a clear pick guard on it, my mate said "just play it and enjoy it"... I did just as he advised and, despite some fairly heavy workouts with big picks it remains virtually unblemished. The finish seems hard enough to be immune to pick scratches (and most other damage TBH, short of driving over it).
I'm a no pick guard guy generally though some of my guitars have them (the Strats and the D45).

I put a thin black guard on my Rainsong CH-OM and there is no discernable tonal difference.

Yeah, who would have thunk it?
I bought this one used after looking for a good 18 months. Previous owner put on the PG. I actually like how it is fairly subtle.
