1945 or ‘46 Gretsch Synchromatic 160 Archtop
Here's a post-WWII Gretsch 160 that's in great shape. Recently had the folks at Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto go over it to make sure all was well. Plays great with a large, roomy tone. The pictures do most of the explaining, but to sum it up - it's been played but well-preserved. Comes with a hardcase that fits but is not original. Kluson Sealfast tuners are original for this guitar and work great.
I've attached a picture to show the inside blue stamp (faded) that reads "Gretsch Super Structure." The serial number is next to this stamp, but it is so faded I can only offer a best guess (which is 854). This type of stamping pre-dates Gretsch's practice of uses glued on labels which began in 1949. This number also puts the date range somewhere between 1945 and '46 (as after '46 Gretsch's serial numbers were above the 2000's). More pictures available upon request. Feel free to ask questions. Located in SF Bay Area. Can meet locally or ship. Asking $1600. https://i.ibb.co/KLygs1W/B17-A4-C66-...-A977-F8-F.jpg |
