practice with an amp??

Lately I have found that practicing through amp is helping me to improve my technique a bit. It's easy to get away with mistakes when not through an amp and when I play through an amp, it seems that I have to be more precise and I can't "cheat" since everything is heard. I'd like some feedback (no pun intended) on what some of the instructors and pros feel about this as a practice method.

A pro I'm not, nor an instructor. But I've recently started doing the same thing with the same perception that it is making me play cleaner and hear the 'laziness' I can get away with unamplified.
