Never - tried singing with bands for a while in the early 70's - it was adequate but I decided I'd rather be a lead guitar player. Now, I sometimes wish I had worked on my singing more.

I started playing guitar in order to accompany one or more singers, including my own voice. I've been singing since I was about 7 years old (with a few gaps) and playing guitar since my mid to late 30s.

I signed up for a bunch of classes and found out that I can sing, and not to badly either. I think that people realize that to play an instrument they have to work at it, but just expect be able to sing with no effort what so ever.

My dad was a fabulous singer but he said to wait to learn till I got out of Hi school. By then I had other interests and have been an instrumentalist all of my career.

Singing is why started playing in the first place. So yes. Not always, but quite a bit.

Most people would think of me as a singer who plays guitar.

Do you sing when you play?

Yes, unless it's an instrumental.

Practice varies depending on what I'm practicing/learning.

Yes I do. I don't have a nice singing voice though but I enjoy playing/singing acoustic.

Depends a bit on what you are willing to call 'singing' but I try

I have found that with practice one can improve their singing voice substantially. Eventually I may even work my way up to 'decent'.

I sing sometimes - not enough though.

I'm a better player than a singer but it's only because I play more than I sing.

But like anything- with practice singing gets easier.

When we learn songs - we often make subtle changes to them and we don't realize it until we go to sing them.

We have to work the singing out to match those changes or work the playing out to let you sing it the way you hear it on a recording if you are doing covers.

If it's your own stuff - it's all good.

I find recording on an 8 track a good way to get better at singing.

Once I realize I can sing the sing with my playing and stay on key - it makes it easier to find the notes again with my voice when I'm playing and singing at the same time.

The main reason I took up the acoustic guitar was to become a singer-songwriter.

It took sometime, twice!

Teachers encouraged me to fake it at an early age. "Not a voice pleasing to god" is what they told me at church. It would have made a huge difference if I could.

Teachers can be awful.

I didn’t pluck up the courage to sing until the age of 28, with exception of a few drunken karaoke attempts.
