Default ES 1.3 System

Hi all,

Being that my Taylor is a 2011, I'm assuming that it has the 1.3 version of the ES system, correct?

So I was wondering if someone could fill me in on the ES system? Like, where are all the sensors are located? Also, I noticed there is a wire hooked up to the bottom where the bridge pins are located. I also noticed that there's a transducer looking thing in the saddle slot? I thought theres just pickups on the neck and 2 body sensors?

Any info would be appreciated, thanks, Dut.

Taylor's website has a number of PDF's that are easily downloaded. And will give an explanation with pictures...

It's the ground

That's a ground upgrade for old ES1

That's old ES1

First ES had many body sensors, no string ground and no dummy coil. It had huge "60 Hz hum" issues, all the sonsors being single coils I think. So they added a dummy coil that sens the 60Hz hum and substracted it on the preamp board. They also added a string ground. This little piece of metal garantees that if touch the strings, you are "wired" to the ground.

That's ES1.3 (I think)

You can see only two body sensors, the string ground and the dummy coil, just above the soundhole.

My 2 cents,
Cuki
