Default Strymon BigSky/BlueSky w/DI

I have my reverb box in the typical in-line (series) configuration. Guitar(KK), DI box, Strymon reverb box, AER/60 - I struggle to achieve a nice, rich "not overly processed" sound (if that makes any sense! I own two DI boxes, a RedEye and recently got an LR Baggs Venue. I prefer the Baggs Venue. Both these DI boxes have a "loop IN/OUT" option. My question is, "Should I expect identical sound out of amp regardless if reverb box is "in-line" or in "the loop"? (I am thinking gain, impedance etc.) I have never used any loop in/out feature before (non-pro) Thanks!

You might get the same results either way, or not. Try it both ways and use what works best for you.

Yes, practicality and finished product (sound) will ultimately prevail! But on a "technical level" (electronics/sound), it would help me if I knew (typically) does it matter if reverb box (or any effects box) is in-line or "in the loop" ??

Sonic results SHOULD be the same with the reverb pedal in the effects loop vs. after the Venue, but the effects loop is a better place to put it because of then being able to use all the Venue outputs and level controls, etc.

You should definitely go straight into the Venue from your K&K, for impedance reasons.

Thanks James. I never thought of the fact that being in serial would use up the jack output, though I don't need that for anything else right now. I appreciate your comment.

I run all my Strymon effects on an effects loop from my VenueDI. I've never had a problem.

Good to know Jay. Thanks. I'll do some experimenting today. Do you have a bunch of effects in the loop?

I have read somwhere that modulation effects such as reverb and delay
should run through a loop and things like compression and distortion
should run in line. That said All my effects are run in line. And me likey.

I use the Fishman Platinum Pro. I had the Venue before. The Fishman's tuner works good, has the loop and compression, and it runs on a battery for long, long time. I use Strymon effects after the Fishman, not in the loop and it sounds fine. I use a power supply on my pedal board, and just the Fishman on battery when using my Fishman Artist amp, which has effects.

Thanks, James. I appreciate it greatly when a technical question is answered by a known expert, such as yourself.

And I also appreciate forum input from vendors that are selling more than snake-oil.

My reverb (Boss RV6) is in the efx loop of my Radial preamp. This way reverb is sent to all 3 outputs.
