I think you should look around a bit more. There are a lot of less-than-plain Mahogany guitars. More important, of course, is how the instrument sounds. My Breedlove Frontier Concerto E for example. https://soundcloud.com/user-54229037...coustic-guitar

Washburn has a nice looking all mahogany guitar that won't break the bank.
https://www.guitarcenter.com/Washbur...stic-Guitar.gc Guild also has an all mahogany guitar that is very attractive.

I can totally relate. I have been playing for quite some and owned 30+ acoustics over the years. Just this year - like you - I figured out that for me, mahogany is my preferred "acoustic" sound. I see you are a Taylor guy. I own a BTO 512e with Gotoh's and pickguard. You can always add some bling to a Taylor BTO (tuners, inlay, etc.. Mine is mahagony b/s and cedar top. I have owned 10 Taylor's over the past 25 years and this model is my favorite above all. It's nice to have finally found "home base" when it comes to my acoustic sound.

While the Taylor 514ce isn't pimped out like a Martin OM-42, I still like the binding approach - mine has tortise binding and pickguard, with and abalone rosette. Not blingy.....but fancy in a tasteful way.

I'd agree with most that Gibson does the best looking mahogany IMO. The reason I never had any interest in the D18 for the longest time was boring aesthetic appeal.
However, I will say that I've smiled more over playing mahogany guitars than most rosewood guitars... |
