Another vote for Sully's straps here - just about to order one of his new straps for my new Nash Tele, and will be ordering one of his vintage leather straps for the Pre*War Guitar Co. 000-18 I have coming in next year.

I bought this year ago and use it with my Martin (using with a D'Alldarrio quick release headstock string) and it works well with the new bass guitar too.

To be honest, the one that got the most use when i gigged was the ubiquitous Fender logo strap that came with my Strat.
The humble and complimentary Fender logo strap is one of my favorites too, after about 10 years to break in.

Default another el dorado vote

The sheepskin padding underneath the shoulder pad is luxurious, great buffer on these old bones of mine.

I have an old hand-tooled one like this, many years old:

and the plain one I recently purchased for my new acquisition, fender player strat in 3 tone sunburst:

I think the most comfortable strap I own is a handmade leather one a guy made for me. Super comfortable but it pulls at my shirts and is a tad too wide. I normally just use a typical nylon strap but it must have solid leather to hold onto the strap holders.

I've thought about my own straps some but I've probably thought more about Jerry Garcia's. Think about this, Jerry used a lot of leather straps pre-Tiger. Then her get's Tiger which weighs in at an astonishing 13.5 pounds and jerry moves to a nylon strap made by Wand. There were a few other straps but for the most part with both Tiger and Rosebud (both incredibly heavy guitars) he used a nylon strap with a sort of neoprene padding which must make all the difference. This is obviously one guitar player who needed comfort with his strap, not only were his guitars heavy but he obviously played many hours a day while standing.

This company makes a strap similar to his and they advertise as the most comfortable strap. I may have to try one. http://comfortstrapp.com/
