Question Which is your favorite top wood for GS Mini?

Hi Everyone. If you do not like the GS Mini, this thread and poll is not for you. If you own or have owned a Mini, please vote on which top wood (Spruce, Mahogany or Koa) is your favourite.

Sorry if you like 2 or all of the top wood, only 1 vote. But you can state in the comments if you like more than 1 or all the tone woods.

Thanks for your votes and comments! Please vote if you have not voted yet. Thanks!

*Edited on 24 May 2020. Mahogany is the favourite top wood. Second is Koa. Third is Spruce.

I feel like the Sitka top gives you the bright sound when you wish, and warmer tones by adjusting your attack over the soundhole or using fingers when you prefer that. Plus you get a sort of time machine as the spruce color deepens over time. They're all great though. First post - hi everybody, happy new year.

I voted spruce. If they made them with cedar tops, that would be even better.

Early voting results sometimes can be good indicators of future results!

I think Hog top wood seems very popular in AGF. Maybe its just a gut feeling...let just see how this poll unfolds.

Best part is there’s no closing date for this poll...

Having owned all 3 flavors I voted for Koa strictly for the aesthetics. Taylor has used some beautiful flamed Koa on some of these Minis. I don't detect a huge tonal difference, so I just ended up with the 'purtier' one.

I voted Koa. For my ear, it is the most pleasing and neither of the other two can compare in appearance.

I have owned all 3. There isn't a significant difference in them, at least how I play (fingerpicking). I voted for koa, because they are usually nicer looking. If I had to make a distinction, I think koa falls between the spruce and mahogany in terms of brightness/warmth.

Hog Mini is leading the poll at 50%! Didn’t come as a surprise to me because many times in GS mini threads, Hog owners would joke, “Oh, and did I tell you I own a Hog Mini!”

Can any Hog owner comment on why Hog Mini is the most popular Mini and why it is so well-loved in AGF?

If you are an owner or ex-owner of a GS Mini, please vote and comment on which “flavour” is your favourite...

Thanks!
