Displaying Guitar Chords Online
I have a blog where I discuss music theory, and I’d like to show guitar fingerings when visitors mouse over certain notes (similar to what Ultimate-Guitar does with its songs - http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/b/bo...no_cry_crd.htm).
I can create each chord from scratch as an image, but this is very time consuming. Is there any open source or commercial software that allows this? I’d especially like one that includes sounds and inversions. My site is on Wordpress. Steph |

Hello and welcome to the forum! I know you joined a few months back, but it's your first post. I've tried several programs on the computer from high end drawing apps to handwritten charts which I scanned. Trying to build a library of chord charts has proven to be too tedious for me. I hope you have better luck. I do a lot of inversions, so often for lessons for students I've just drawn them freehand on my iPad and emailed them to the student. Like these... Even totally freehand… I've even experimented with pictures… Since I'm just doing it as a reinforcement of what we practiced in the lesson, they have been adequate. For a blog I'd think it would need to be more professional looking. Let us know what you find...

Potential leads
thanks Ljguitar,
I haven’t found anything firm yet – but there are some promising leads out there: http://jtab.tardate.com/ (most promising I think) https://sites.google.com/site/chordchartwizard/ http://www.vexflow.com/ (look for vex chord) http://www.javascriptsource.com/misc...ord-chart.html http://www.janasoftware.com/index.php |
