we appreciate all the input so far.
leaning towards a maple neck with some walnut added (5-piece laminate) as well as a walnut fingerboard and bridge. I just received a very nice set of Douglas fir back and sides. It taps wonderfully, very nice tones and responsive. I feel its going to pair very well with the cedar top. I will try and post some pics next week.

I have built an all Douglas Fir bodied acoustic. A nice old-growth top and curly back and sides. The neck is walnut with an ebony fretboard. The guitar sounds excellent, but obviously not in the same tone space as, say, rosewood and spruce. It is a very warm, even sounding guitar. It is actually one that I've kept for myself.
Good luck with the project - I hope to see pictures when it's complete! |
