Default Santa Cruz 1929

I've been looking at these all hog masterpieces and I'm curious as to pricing. It looks as though they are selling for around $4860 msrp. Being said, can I accurately assume I could pick one of these up new for under $3500 street price assuming a 30% discount? Sorry for the uneducated question I am just unsure how pricing works with boutique companies compared to your larger companies, or if they are in fact similar.

I bought my 1929 00 used, so I can't help you with pricing on a new one.

But I will tell you this- they are really something! Good luck in your search.

Authorized SCGC dealers cannot sell at 30% off list price, only at 10% off list price. Usually, the price you see at a dealer is already discounted the 10%.

You could make some offers through reverb and see what you come up with.

I think you’re looking at MSRP less 10% oraround $4,400 for a new guitar. Look at Reverb and you’ll see used mint for ~$3,500.

I bought one used last year, here on the site. New the guitar would've cost well over $6K, I only payed $2900. Mine is a 1929 000, and I love it!

I'm intrigued by both the 00 and the 000. I was only SLIGHTLY leaning towards the 00 due to my playing style. I primarily fingerpick with flesh and thought I could benefit from a tad more response. It will be tough as I do enjoy the fuller bass of an 000.

Yeah, they're both great guitars but I am really happy with my 000.

Santa Cruz does not discount their new guitars so the mid-$4k range is about what you'll pay new. Used they typically run between in the mid-$2k range. At least that's what I bought the two I had for. They are an excellent guitar for that money.

I see them being sold as used on a regular basis. High end guitars are usually in very good condition when sold used. You don't see many beater Santa Cruz guitars. I will never sell mine as it is a wonderful guitar in every way for me. I feel sad for those that sell theirs as I'm sure they will regret it.

The 00 is a short scale and the 000 is a long scale usually.

And I have a '29 OM - and its an absolutely fantastic guitar! Richard is very picky about the mahogany they use, and the '29 series are wonderful. I just saw Catfish Keith perform at Mighty Fine Guitars and it was his first performance using his custom '29 0 - what a guitar, and what a performer!!

Talk about Santa Cruz mahogany! They have hooked up with mahogany tree farm that was started for replacing masts for British sailing ships. This is from memory so don't beat me up if I'm a little off on the facts. I believe they are down in south America. Sailing ships used to carry extra masts. They got broken off in storms and battles. So the British started a farm in South America so they could get masts on this side of the Atlantic when they needed them. It takes a long time to grow a tree and once the tree is grown and cut it needs to dry before the wood can be used for guitars. Some of this mahogany has been drying for a hundred years. It is a sustainable quality source of mahogany that fits their world view of you are either part of the solution or part of the problem. It' way cool knowing the history of the mahogany of the guitar you are playing. And it is nice looking mahogany as well.

Have a 1929 00 that’s got a few custom OM touches and it’s absolutely wonderful. Hope you find one you like.
