Before you sell the C414B I would compare it to the Edwina.

will do, have done a couple of tests with the edwina but def need to A/B it with the 414.

FWIW, the c414 has been a studio staple for decades.

Ok so the gear is basically finalized and I've run some initial testing / tracking.

Mic (ear trumpet labs edwina or akg c414b)
Apogee element 24
Mac book pro running logic pro X

I still need to get a pair of powered monitors if anyone can recommend a good pair.

Depends on your budget & the size/shape of your room. You can avoid unnecessary issues by making sure the monitors are not too big for your space.

I love DynAudio, but they're price is hard to justify if recording/mixing isn't your day gig. My LYD 48s ran about $2500 for the pair.

I would also caution against going too low-cost. If your monitors are lying to you you will always struggle to get a good mix & they will always surprise you (not in a good way) when you hear your work on other olayback systems.

thanks, is there anything decent in the sub $500 range? i've only used headphones in the past so this will be a step towards a proper set up.
