Pyramid bridge made of Bois de Rose. It looks purple now but when I hit it with McKnight's FB Dressing it will be nearly black. Plus it is a dalbergia and like most members of that family transmits sound very nicely.

Head on shot to better see the shape. The fingerboard is ebony because it's hard and black. Business. There is masking tape under the bridge to reserve that spot.

Really beautiful, John.

Love the woods, the appointments, the shape--the whole enchilada!

hola Nemoman, mucho gracias

Do you like my bride pins. I need to go shopping for 4 more or use the pins I have but they would have to be different diameters. So many decisions.

Default For sure...

I like 'em--looks like fun wrapping the ball ends around those suckers!

Pair them up with a slotted headstock and you'll have the ultimate string changing experience!

Stunning - already! I LOVE that you used Bois de Rose for that beautiful bridge. Yay for uncommon and excellent woods! I feel really lucky that you are building this one for me, John. Excited to see how that beautiful rosette looks under finish - curious what the purpleheart will do, especially. Too bad that it will likely eventually age to dark brown...but that will undoubtedly look tasteful as well.

You have it looking so good John. And you know I知 a fan of purple heart also. I知 still very anxious to see the woods under finish. I知 thinking it will almost glow.
Good stuff.

Ha. You are right. There is always room to make things harder.

Glad you like it Jamie. I hope you like the peghead overlay, it's Bog oak, black shading to a brownish black color.

The Purple Heart was taken from a plank of the same that has remained purple for about 5 years now. True enough it spends most of its life in a dimly lit closet but it's unfinished. I will be curious to know how long this Purple Heart accents remain purple under finish. If the guitar lives in a case it might stay purple for a long time.

Thanks NTS. I remember your fondness for purple heart.

One of our first hand made guitar inspirations ( for me and my bro) was a red padouk guitar with purple heart binding. As garish as that may sound I think it looked great. Certainly it had escaped the bond of tradition.
