Despite numerous bouts with cancer RBG never slid mentally. Seeing my Mother of the same age decline over the last 5 years makes me appreciate RBG even more. She was a unique person. All that weight on her shoulders to "protect her seat" and she never broke.
I wouldn't wish that on anybody. I'm tired of seeing them die on the court. I'd love to see one ride gracefully into the sunset someday. She certainly earned a victory lap or 10...

Not to mention John Paul Stevens who resigned in 2010 and Sandra Day O'Connor who stepped down in 2006. There's 3 recent ones who walked away before death. Last edited by 619TF; 09-19-2020 at 01:03 AM. |

She followed the law not her sentiments. That is a true jurist.

I'm gutted. She was an amazing woman on so many levels. Strategic genius and just a great person.

Heartbreaking news. She was a tremendous figure and fought hard for equality and justice. 2020 has been a difficult year.

A brilliant legal mind and a great American, a huge loss.

No. You were right to call me out. It's just that there are memorable and less memorable judges to someone like me. A casual observer.
Sandra Day O'connor is memorable for being the first Female. But honestly what I remember most is John Riggins saying "Lighten up Sandy". Stevens: no memory for me. Kennedy? To me, and again I don't pay that much attention, later became a bit of a Wild Card. Famous for "what will he do?". Ginsberg and Scalia were legendary Stalwarts. Probably why they got along so well despite being opposite. They knew they could count on each other. Again, the above is all from a casual observer.
