I'm a believer in that. Not every team has to learn to lose in order to win but lots do. The Oilers with Gretzky were swept by your Islanders back in 1983. Next year with the Drive for Five the two teams met again with a different outcome (I was a huge Oilers fan back then because of Gretzky).

I remember that '99 Cup final.

Wow - hard to believe that the Stanley Cup Finals may be played between a team from Texas, another from Florida, in Edmonton!

Well heartbreak for the Islanders. Played like they wanted it, but couldn’t get luck to break their way.

Stars and Lightning coming Saturday. At least that’s the forecast I heard.

Islanders had a great run! Lou Lamoriello probably has a game plan for next season.

Texas vs Florida for the Stanley Cup... played in Edmonton.

I hope Stamkos is back for the finals. I would like to see him hoist the cup. Otherwise, it's a neutral series for me ... I don't like or dislike any of those two team.

What a finish! Isles did their best. On to the finals. I like both teams as well. Looking for a good, close hard fought series.

Schedule. Looks like no hockey in Oct this year. MLB playoffs start Sept 29 so there's a 1 game overlap on the 30th.

Game 1: Saturday, Sept. 19, 7:30 p.m. ET – NBC (livestream)
Game 2: Monday, Sept. 21, 8 p.m. ET – NBCSN (livestream)
Game 3: Wednesday, Sept. 23, 8 p.m. ET – NBCSN (livestream)
Game 4: Friday, Sept. 25, 8 p.m. ET – NBC (livestream)
*Game 5: Saturday, Sept. 26, 8 p.m. ET – NBC
*Game 6: Monday, Sept. 28, 8 p.m. ET – NBC
*Game 7: Wednesday, Sept. 30, 8 p.m. ET – NBC

Larry, know it's not the outcome you were looking for, but a great series all the way around. As a long time Lightning season ticket holder, I can tell you I felt for the Islanders last night. Just have to say, glad it ended last night. If the Islanders had pulled out game six, I think they win the series in 7!

They'll be back next year for sure!

Thanks, Mike. My hat's off to the Lightning and I wish them luck. I was at game 7 in Tampa in 2004 when they defeated Calgary. It's a great city and great fans. I'm sorry that the games can't be attended by their respective fans, but you gotta give the NHL the nod for pulling off a fun season. Good luck and enjoy! I know I will.
PS: Game 6 was a great game, even though it wasn't the outcome I'd hoped for. But it was sure exciting!

Larry: I was at that game as well - by the Lightning bench on the blue line row 3 - what a day! Yeah, hockey is about the only sport I even watch / attend anymore (even before the virus hit). Lost a lot of interest in the NFL with all the off the field nonsense. Had season tickets to the Bucs until about 5 years ago - just got tired of dealing with all the drunk bozos screaming profanities at the top of their lungs, etc, and that's just the 1:00 games. Don't get me started on the 4:30 games where they have been tailgating since the gates opened at 10:00am! In contrast, the Lightning fan base seem to be good sports win or lose - just enjoy the game! Obviously not the same people showing up for the bucs!

Anyway, should be a good final - much easier to watch it on TV anyway!
Have a Great Day!

Tampa is going off in the third, but Dallas’ defense is holding tight so far. Stars still up 3-1.

Edit: Tacked on an empty netter. Stars up 1-0 in the series with a 4-1 win.

This is the round that Tampa Bay is going to start missing Stamkos. Still possible he returns but it might be too late.
