Please help me decipher these arcane chord symbols!
It's "Ooh, Child (Things are Gonna Get Easier)" by the Five Stairsteps.
This video has chord changes by the lyrics, but I don't understand what the symbols next to the chords mean, such as the low dash or the figure that could be either be an eleven or the letter n. Then there's a triangle with a 7 after it. I've never seen notations like these before. I heard this song while at Walgreen's today and it almost moved me to tears. I got to play it, no matter how horribly! LINK to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YniisDyFa9w |

Triangle means Major chord. So a Maj7th chord.
Some avoid the m for minor and M for major notation as it's not always clear as to what is a capitol letter.

Thanks, Frank!
I guess the flat dash denotes a minor chord. But what's that C 11 or C lowercase N mean? |
