I enjoyed that a lot! Very well done! Beautifully played!

For me, I thought the reverb level was just about right. As Doug Young commented, "Reverb's a matter of personal taste/artistic choice." And I very much agree.

As someone who has been told repeatedly by Derek to tone down my reverb, I fully concur...

I have to admit though that Derek's recordings always sound elegant and refined, so I respect his opinion (at least somewhat)...

Normally I would've said "great job" and left it at that. It's a very, very good video. But there's a semi unwritten rule in Show and Tell that when the OP asks for other members' thoughts, we actually try to be honest instead of posting strictly supportive/positive comments. That's the only reason why I opened my big mouth.

In addition to what I've posted earlier, there was something about the rhythm that was bugging me and I couldn't quite put my finger on it -- until now.

At the 0m33s and 1m30s, there's a beat missing. At the end of the first sentence, the silence is too short and the last note ends on the wrong beat/accent.

Glenwillow thank you very much!Really glad you enjoyed the cover! : )

JoeCharter thank you for your comment!Of course I expect the honest opinion from everyone and thank you!I think you might be right for the reverb if It was your recording I understanding it but for me personally it is just right, because I did the production, the reverbs and I selected the amount of reverb, just a matter of opinion and I don't think there is right or wrong on that.
As for the short silence and the wrong beat, maybe it's just me but I practiced the tune by Hedge's book and played it note to note, also seems to be the same in Hedges original recording, or at least I don't hear any missing measures but again maybe it's just me.
Thank you for your time to listen to it and for your feedback! : )

I would love more clarity. Have not changed my mind on that.
I agree there is a lost beat in the middle of the hammer on
section beginning at 0m33s and 1m30s however SotosBakas
is correct in saying that is the way Michael Hedges plays it.

Hey I didn't say anything about the reverb -- it's Derek who did!

I'm with you on the "freedom of reverb" thing.

Gents, I would have to objectively disagree...

Michael's studio version: https://youtu.be/h-mWJlrdQ1I

I'm not going to get technical and count everything -- but just tap your foot along Michael's version and everything fits. The last note of the sentence lands on the beat.

If you try tapping your foot to Sotos' version, there is a half silence (or whatever the proper term is) missing. The last note of the sentence lands before the beat.

I am 100% sure of this. Listen carefully.

At 37 seconds for example of a missing eight note interval. Count beats in quarter notes (its 4/4) and you will hear that.

You did the composition justice. Video and performance excellent!
Your Lowden sounds gorgeous! Having played/studied various Hedges’
tunes over the years, it’s Michael’s technique of
string stopping that can
add that extra clarity to
a composition.
Like a Hilary Step.
(no pun intended)

You’re playing it from the Heart, that’s the important
vibe.
