Default Saying Goodbye To My Husky Finley

I had to say goodbye to my husky Finley three days ago and I have to say it's the worst thing ive been through. For the past 9 years he has been by my side everyday and pretty much base a lot of our life around him. It all happened so fast in 5 days. Found out he did have cancer but a vet error is why we had to put him down. We never got the chance to treat the cancer and even untreated we would have had another few weeks with him at home and everything could have been done here on his/our terms. It truly is amazing how an animal can get into our hearts. I don't want to be a downer but I know many of you can relate to my pain. RIP Finley and run free.

Wow, I went through the same thing on the same day. My best friend of 12 years, Maverick, a yellow lab, had Stage V Lymphoma and this weekend I experienced the hardest days I've ever known.

My condolences, to say the least.

For what it's worth, I just got this book (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09TN45JN2...roduct_details) and it has been very helpful. I suggest you give it a read yourself.

My very best to you. Feel free to reach out via pm if you would like.

Thank you so much for the kind words and my condolences to you also. They say it takes courage and it's the last gift we can give but honestly I don't really feel any of that yet. Maybe someday, I suppose.

I did order the book.

Sorry, it's really, really tough to lose a dog. I was a wreck when I had to put down my dog of 15 years. I still miss him all the time. Hang in there.

Yep. Been there, know your pain.
Best you can do is take comfort knowing you gave him a good, happy life.

One of my favorite quotes in outdoor writing belongs to Gene Hill:

“If dogs dont go to Heaven, I want to go where they go.”

my thoughts are with you. Tomorrow I have to take Rupert our cat to the vets. I'm not at all sure that he will be coming back.

We spent £800 on having his teeth cleaned last month (we later found out that it wasn't necessary). He has never really recovered from the drugs they gave him.

When I was born, my Dad bought home a kitten and a puppy "to give my mum something to play with while she had a new baby (!!)

Peter, the Dog (a Manchester terrier) became to all intents and purposes my brother.
We hung out together but he also walked out frequently to see his girlfriend.

One day, as I cycled home from school, he didn't run out to meet me.
My Mum came out to explain to me that he had cancer and had been oput down, but Uncle Charlie was coming over later to bury him at the bottom of the garden.

For me it was like burying my brother. I still feel the pain of that loss.
It may return tomorrow.

I am so sorry for your loss. They really do become family members in every sense of the word. I pray that time will eventually tip the scales in allowing you to smile at the blessing Finley was in your lives as opposed grieving what you no longer have.

PS Finley was a sweet, humble, loyal dog - I can see it in his eyes.

You'll never be quite the same without Finley, but you were both so fortunate to have found each other. Take care.

So Sorry to hear of your loss. Our pets are the ones we love the most and mourn the hardest. Sadly, their lives are much too short compared to ours - that's why they Love us unconditionally! They know they are only dancing on this earth for a short while, so they pack all the joy they can into their time with us! Here's to Finley and the 9 great years I'm sure you two had together!

So incredibly difficult. Sorry for the loss of your buddy. We lost our boy of 14 years in January. I still cry for him. I'm not sure if it ever gets easier. Take care.

I am sorry for the loss of your buddy and totally understand. Our lab retrievers Boo! and Zoe' were litter mates we brought home in a snowstorm. Last year, after thirteen years with us, Zoe' died. It is sort of week-to week with Boo!, but every day is good time with him.
