Default Anyone know of a key of C fingerpicking arrangement of Fly me to the Moon?

I can read both tab and staff. C major is right where I feel most comfortable vocally and also where Frank Sinatra sang it. (At least the recording I am familiar with).

I found a couple of fingerpicking arrangements, but are they playing in it appears to be D and D # which is little high for a good sound for my voice.

I suppose I could just play the chords Travis style since my voice will be the melody?

Or maybe I just need to hold off until I have better transcribing skills?

If you're just looking to fingerpick as you sing along it should be pretty easy to just shift everything from D to C, as you'd just drop all the other notes a full step. So Bm would become Am, etc. Here's what it would look like in C.

You can also use the circle of fifths to change the key of songs.

Thanks Pagedr!

I don't really have an issue changing keys as in chords or the circle of fifth/fourths etc., but rearranging picking patterns is a little more tricky for me. And as you know sometimes you lose something in the picking character even if all you do is move a capo.

But you've given me some great Ideas!

Looks like fun to play with and learn!

Or how does it sound if one drops the capo and sings along with the melody line as in the following version. Does that sound odd or not?

FWIW, we play it starting with an Am, which is the relative minor of C.

Saw this yesterday, I think it's in D with a walking bassline

My copy of "The Real Book" volume II has it in C. Standard notation, treble clef only and just the simple melody, with chords above. Mostly jazz chord melody chords are shown. Not what I'd call an arrangement though.

Can you improvise off the chords and melody? That's what I usually do.

Not quite there yet. Thanks for the link to the book!

Just to clarify... the song is actually titled "In Other Words", but the line "fly me to the moon" is so incredibly catchy that most folks know it by that name instead... the publishers may have changed the title officially by now, but originally it was entitled "In Other Words"...

Great song, by the way! As are SO many from that "Great American Songbook" era...

This is how my wife and I play it but we capo it at the third fret which makes it the key of Cm. I play it fingerstyle by plucking all strings in a dotted eighth note pattern using mostly open chords. On the chorus I play the Dm as a bar chord to change up the flavor a bit. It sounds fine capoed at the third fret.
