Videos Added: McNally S (00): sinker cedar and padauk
Ciaran is now settled into his new shop in Northern Ireland and has caught up with my build slot: I decided on his S 14 fret model, essentially a 00. I sourced the woods myself in a fit of wood acquisition frenzy to keep my spirits up during the 1st lockdown, and he was gracious enough to accept building with them.
The padauk is Andaman as opposed to the more common African. I know the red is quite bold, but it appealed to me. The tone should be in the rosewood spectrum. The guitar will have a soundport and 1 13/16 nut width. Last edited by dennisczech; 01-14-2021 at 06:08 PM. Reason: update |

I've always thought padauk was very striking wood and your build reinforces this.
Very cool how the cedar and padauk have similar streaking in different color palettes. Looking forward to seeing this come together and hearing it once complete!

We have a box! Spray booth next week... It's been a few years since I commissioned a custom build, and I'd forgotten how visceral the excitement and anticipation gets..

Getting there. Gotta say, I'm doubly excited to have supplied these woods myself.

Green ebony bridge. I'm getting increasingly interested in the idea of a less dense wood for the bridge, to put less weight on the top. Green ebony is still pretty dense, but I like the look with the sinker cedar

Bridge is on, final setup over the next couple of days, should be winging its way from Belfast for my Christmas joy on Wednesday! The bridge looks more obviously striped with oil on.
