Default Original piece in a Renaissance style

An original composition called "Time Forgotten," a bit of a cross between Renaissance and jazz, a combination I've explored in other compositions before. Hope you enjoy this one!

Wow. Beautiful composition. And the flawless playing was astounding. Such speed and precision, but not showy, just masterful. So much fun to watch a virtuoso performance. Well done and thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Dave

I don’t like the title because listening to that is anything but time forgotten. Seriously now, that is how to play the guitar. Excellent as always, Daniel!

Beautiful job and amazing composition! It's almost like several movements within this piece with different textures and character. Your playing is beyond superb, Daniel! Bravo!
Best, wishes,
Fred

Really appreciate that, Dave! I enjoyed writing this piece with the various textures and dynamics -- it's a fun one to play too!

Thank you, Norman, the story behind the title is two-fold: it's an homage to Bill Evans' "Time Remembered" as well as a reference to the fact that music of old has been forgotten in many circles...

Thank you, Fred, that's how I thought about it when composing! The intro going into the main theme, then a sort of variation on the theme in a tarantella-like style, the slower interlude followed by the more pensive waltz, and a brief, dramatic call-back to the original material. Glad you enjoyed it!

Good one - playing, recording, composition. Sort of a jazz classical combo of influences. Not sure where Renaissance comes in.

Thank you! It's a pretty non-specific descriptor here, but some of the things I think of are a more contrapuntal texture, chord progressions that change the tonal center such that sometimes I make the (minor) tonic a major 7th chord (dominant) and carry along from there, etc. The jazz influences come more from specific harmonies and also shine through in the middle waltz section.

Absolutely wonderful. You have an excellent right hand technique. 👏👏
I watched those right fingers carefully.
And that composition had me captivated till the end.
A lot don't.
