What gauge strings does an Octopus prefer? Is that wood torrefied? Or water-logged? Shouldn’t he be playing an 8-string?

Octopuses are amazing. I just finished reading a great book titled "The Soul of an Octopus."

Just for the Halibut,

At least he doesn't have to humidify his guitar.

If he has only eight feet, why does he have ten-tacles?

What scale does he play in? Octatonic of course. Which in no way diminishes his playing ability.

I do know that an octopus is not a fish. It's actually a cephalopod; I got my head in the game.

Enough for now; I'm starting to flounder around.

Don

Presumably this was a cheap guitar (might very well have been what I refer to as a GSO - guitar shaped object). But I can't help but be horrified seeing a guitar underwater!

Default Octopus reacts to acoustic guitar

As some may know, these fascinating invertebrates exhibit a surprising amount of intelligence.

So as a break from all the threads about humidifying guitars here's what happens when an octopus is introduced to a guitar.

Things I note: unlike some humans, Octo checks the tuning before playing a new guitar. Once they get down to it, it appears they favor modern fingerstyle, including taping. Though in the end it also seems to be demonstrating that dropping a flat pick down the soundhole is no problem.

I thought it was gonna be the octopus reacting to the sound of a guitar being played. Wasn’t ready to see a guitar submerged. [emoji23]

The same folks have another, longer video, where a pair of octopi get to react to various types of music from a speaker. One reacts more than the other, and almost seems to dance to some of it.

No one has yet suggested rosewood vs. mahogany to see what they prefer.
