Default Parchment crack repair

Has anyone ever heard of this or used it. I know a violinist who says the way cracks are repaired on violins is to wet parchment, place it over the crack and as the parchment dries it pulls the crack together. Just wondering

Never heard of that but I do use tight woven cotton soaked in fish glue to reenforce cracks inside guitars. A technique I picked up from a violin repairman.
