We covered that in the '80's when AIDS started - ignorance = death.

This should be criminal. Both states continue to infect people because of a lack of mandatory response. Today Florida is the 6th worst state with current numbers of:

Total case: 5,704 up 754 today and 71 deaths up 11 today which is a 13% increase in cases and 15% increase in cases.

Pennsylvania similarly is: 9th with 4,087 cases up over 16% and 48 deaths up 7 or 15%.

With two states in the top 10 of most infected having no mandatory stay your tails at home - the combined population of the two states of over 34 MILLION people.

In this 13.5 minute, YouTube video, a physician illustrates how to minimize the risk of SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) contamination when bringing groceries and take out food into the house.

Thanks for posting.

It also would be great to have a simple checklist, in addition to this 13 minute video.

Also here's a good article that's based on research. (No pay wall because COVID-19 related.)

Now that folks ARE staying home and non-essential businesses closed, we are starting to see the burglaries. It was just reported in local news that a local gun shop was broken into and several guns stolen. So now we have more guns on the street and in the hands of the wrong people.

It seems that isolation is necessary to slow the spread of the virus, but we also have the fallout financially and now break-ins. There is not good all around solution yet.

My hope is that we collect meaningful data on the virus and get universal testing in place ASAP -- and build medical capacity ASAP. Then revise our plan accordingly.
No, the opposite. Universal testing and quarantine.

Yes, totally agree -- some other poster clarified above. ("Rip off the bandaid" COULD be interpreted to mean, let everyone out of the house and go back to normal, now. Which is kind of what Sweden seems to be doing. Some people are arguing for this -- not me.)

Two/three/six months from now the COVID virus will still be amongst us. You will react the same if you get it today or three months from now. There really won't be an all clear. Unless a vaccine is found.

I live in Pa. I’ve been ordered shelter in place for over a week now. And since our schools have been closed for over two weeks I have been teaching my students from home.

This is from your state's release. Since your state has 67 counties and only 19 have stay home orders - you aren't locked down.

You'll see the quote below is from your state's office.

Governor Wolf and Health Secretary Expand ‘Stay at Home’ Order to Nine More Counties to Mitigate Spread of COVID-19, Counties Now Total 19

Today is going to be the worst day for the US both in new cases and deaths.

Nope, not necessarily. In the months ahead, we are very likely to have a much greater knowledge about how to treat people infected with COVID-19 (even before there's an available vaccine.) For example, hydroxychloroquine looks promising.

For that reason, I'd much rather catch the virus later than sooner.

Definitely, and this will continue for at least a couple weeks. And as testing expands, more "new cases" are inevitable.

That and catching it when cases are peaking increases your chance of not being able to get medical care if you're one of the many who need it.

An emergency field hospital went up New York's Central Park today. They're expecting all of its beds to be filled tomorrow with overflow patients from the hospital across the street. Where will the next overflow patients go?

The actual virus is definitely spreading though. The number of dead is the really troubling part.
