Love these answers, even the funny ones!

…I don’t think I’ve ever cried…but if there was an instance it would have to be listening to Yo-Yo Ma play Amazing Grace on his Cello…

Mason Williams Classical Gas
Of course the familiar radio-popular version (with full orchestra and drums) is an iconic classic. But this one - just a solo acoustic guitar - tears me to pieces. Brave, hopeful, aching and celebratory all at once. Last edited by tinnitus; 06-08-2021 at 02:00 PM. |

Thought of another one. Go to YouTube and check out the clip of Vince Gill singing Go Rest High On The Mountain at George Jones' funeral. Pretty intense.

For me, I think of a certain song played by a young Japanese pianist. It's am emotional tribute to the victims of a tsunami.
Gets me every time.

This. How he manages to lay down that lead is remarkable….

Any vocal processed with an auto-tuner. And those are not tears of joy.

Like many others, I stood awhile in uffish thought, and my mind went to classical
Somewhere I have recordings of the Bach Cello suite, by Paul Tortelier - parts are heart breaking. However the piece that always gets me is "Lark ascending" by vaughan Williams. I think that this is the version that I have ; https://youtu.be/ZR2JlDnT2l8 and the Adagietto from Mahler's 5th https://youtu.be/TVN7GpL70h4

Mark Knopfler's Les Paul playing "Brothers in Arms". I find it haunting and beautiful. Oh, and I had a dog that used to wail like a banshee whenever I played the harmonica if that counts

I’d add that Jeff Beck’s playing has brought me to tears on a number of occasions. He’s one of the finest exponents of the electric guitar ever.

This was a complete surprise since I am generally not particularly a country music fan and therefore not familiar with the tune:
I watched a PBS series on country music and this song was in it. It was the words, the story that got to me because I can easily see that coming as my wife and I get older. I am sure many "baby boomers" here can relate if you understand the story being told. Tony |

Not sure if I've cried, but Lowell George's slide solo on this JB tune is quite emotional (as is the whole song).
