Is the "fret-presser" a jig that fits in your drill press?

It's best used in an arbor press.

Phil, I like the frets at this stage. That way you can bend an E string way off the neck and still play the note

Looking really good, it is going to be great to play.

Man, I love that end graft inlay. It really adds a great detail to an already-beautiful guitar

Default Ready for finish, and a name is chosen!!

Here's two shots of the assembled guitar, ready to go to the finisher (which happened late last week).

And thanks to Nick (chime in with your AGF name, Nick!!), a name that matches the great wood colors, balance in the inlays, and which seems to capture what I think of with this guitar - is "Equinox".

As I write, my desktop pictures are cycling through my Vermont shots - fall, 2004. The colors are amazing.

I'll "leaf" you with this nice shot which a friend took, and which I use for my wallpaper. You can see the colors of "Equinox" in some of the fallen maple and elm leaves.

Now the big wait until "Equinox" comes back from finish!

Thanks all,

Phil

Default Back from finish...

Wow... we always comment on how much change the guitar experiences under finish, and it happened yet again!

I particularly like how the silking in the LS redwood top became more pronounced. But what really "popped" were the mosaic inlays - ABW / Braz / maple - on both the rosette medallion and end graft inlay.

John will be stringing it up next week, along with the other HGF guitars, to let them "settle" before final setup and the little trip to Healdsburg.

Thanks for watching with me!

Phil

No need to thank us Phil; your build threads are guaranteed eye candy!

As well as the mosaic pieces, I really like the way the purfling shows its "grain".

Looks great all round!

Thanks all!

The bridge is now on (African Blackwood) but the reason I'm showing this picture is to show the great mahogany under finish!
