Default Yet Another Composite Acoutics S/N Q

Hi All,

I've looked in the forums but can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I have what I think is a pre 2000 CA Legacy AE black gloss instrument with wooden bridge and no tress rod. The S/N is 112742. I want to move it but first want to get the full specs and ballpark value. I see lots of listings on Reverb but none seem to be this old so not sure if the lack of tress rod significantly affects resale value. It's in good shape, great sound, noticeable fret wear yet stays in tune wonderfully.

Thanks in advance for any insights you can provide,

Dave

No knowledge of your CA, but my McPherson Sable has no truss rod and it's a non issue. GLWS !

I haven’t looked up the serial number for my CA GX, but I found this comment— https://toonz.ca/bose/wiki/index.php...site_Acoustics

A bit off-topic, but I've heard often that stainless steel frets almost never wear - but apparently this is not true? I recently played a Rainsong with very deep fret wear in one specific string and wondered if the owner had filed it down. Apparently, stainless steel can wear down then....?

Also, have you compared yours to to a later legacy....say around 2008, 2009 tonally? I played a late model Legacy before they sold to Peavey and it was fantastic so I am on the prowl for an affordable unit. Pricing is all over the map based on what I have seen.

RainSong ships with nickel frets, a much softer metal than stainless steel.

No but from what I gather on the other topics wit similar questions, CA now owned by Peavey doesn't give out info from before they bought CA.

Thanks

I have not but this one plays and sounds very nice. DM me if you are interested in it. It is reasonably priced.

That's absolutely correct: more traditional nickel/nickel-silver frets.

I suppose it’s also possible that Peavey no longer has the information.

Peavey CA Serial Numbers have a 003 designation at the beginning and this indicates the guitar is made in Meridian, Mississippi. This is followed by a letter code such as BAA, which indicates the year and month of manufacture. This is followed by seven numbers which I'm quite sure indicate the day of the year and the number of the guitar made that day. The months are designated A January through K December.

Thus:

003BAAxxxxxxx = a Meridian, Mississippi-made guitar made in 2010 January, the first year of Peavey CA manufacture;

003BBAxxxxxxx = 2011 January

003BCAxxxxxxx = 2012 January

003BDAxxxxxxx = 2013 Jaunary

003BEKxxxxxxx = 2014 December

You get the idea: the first two letters = 2010, 2011, 2012, etc.,

The third letter = month starting with A equaling January, B equaling February, etc.,

Examples:

BFA = 2015 January

BGE = 2016 May

I hope the above helps.
