I don't have any other Applegates or Olsons to compare to: "I've owned 4 Applegates and an Olson and this one was the best of all of them which is saying a lot!! The tone is very lush and rich with a glowing bas presence that I've heard only from Somogyi guitars usually." My perspective... What Bobby has said + lots of overtone content. My Recordings - Zoom H2n with Mid-Side Mic Setting - No Effects Youtube - Video of below Recordings Soundcloud Raw WAV - Chords E-C-D-G Strum Soundcloud Raw WAV - Doodle 1 Soundcloud Raw WAV - Doodle 2 Soundcloud Raw WAV - The Crossing... ick... I stunk on this one... my apologies Bobby Video Recording Full Picture Album note: anything that looks like a scratch is just reflections... this guitar is in excellent condition Last edited by kojohns; 11-23-2020 at 05:56 PM. |

I’ve had this question a few times... so thought I would just answer in the thread.
“Isn’t this the same one Bobby just had for sale? Why are you selling so quickly?” I’ve been on this seemingly eternal search for a fingerstyle guitar with what I feel is the right mix of focused vs overtone vs dry composition. As Bobby says... this one is lush... for me though, too much overtone quality for what I’m seeking. It’s an extraordinary guitar... just not what I’m seeking. I’ve been doing this trade out for a couple years and it’s time for me to stop. If I get the urge again, I need to travel to one of the many amazing shops with an arsenal of options. I’m kinda open for trades, but bigger boxes are what I tend towards... and wider string spacing is necessary... 1.75” / 2.25” and wider. |

I took a few minutes this morning to add some new recordings. Utilized a Zoom H2n with Mid-Side (MS) mic setting for better stereo imaging (more like what your ears hear). No effects applied
Chords E-C-D-G Strum The Crossing... ick... I stunk on this one... my apologies Doodle 1 Doodle 2 |

Offers Welcome, this one is looking for a new home. I have now found the sound I was looking for in Lowden... obviously very different from an Applegate... hence the immediate posting to sell after receiving it.
