Nux Stageman Floor Acoustic Preamp DI
Hi there, I have a Nux Stageman acoustic preamp and it sounds very well with my Yamaha LS6 acoustic c/w SRT2 passive preamp. I would like to know if anyone can advise how I can set it up to record my SM57 mic through the Stageman into my AudioFuse interface. I have tried an XLR cable from the SM57 with a 1/4 mono jack at the other end to connect into the stageman but it does not work.. can it be done..?
Thank for any help/advice Alan |

Hi Jon,
Thanks for you reply, I will try this, others have reported elsewhere that the 'Stageman Floor acoustic preamp' would need to have a mic preamp... anyway I will report back.. much obliged Alan |

An SM57 does not need phantom power. A preamp with phantom power would be more versatile and could handle a condenser mic. Having a matching transformer in your gig bag can be handy if you are faced with plugging your SM57 into an electric guitar amp or a mixer that has run out of XLR inputs.

Hi johnfields45,
Thanks for information, however the matching transformer did not work, and I did get a reply from NU-X saying that the Stageman Floor DI would not work with a microphone. So the Matching transformer i got will be there for future reference Thanks again Alan |

What specific transformer did you buy?

Hi Jon,
Here is the reply from NU-X ***Hi Alan, I think there is some misunderstanding. Stageman Floor doesn't work with microphones.**** The unit suggested... was not available, so I have ordered another one from Amazon it is called 'Microphone matching Transformer' I have returned the transformerAmazon are going to replace it we think it was faulty, so not all sorted yet as others are saying the same as yourself i.e. it should work. I will get back to you Jon.. notice NU X didn't go into much detail, other than it will not work with Microphones Thgank for your help Alan ----------- Sincerely, Cherub Technology Inc. 11940 Goldring Rd Ste C Arcadia CA 91006 |

No doubt NUX support does not want to support people with various levels of technical skills using their product off label, but you can plug a dynamic microphone into any electric or acoustic amp guitar input using a matching transformer.

Just to test it out, I plugged an MXL993 mic into a Behringer Mic200 and out to a NU X Stageman Floor. Sound came through and the effects on the NU X worked. I had to engage the phantom power on the Behringer Mic200 for my mic to work.
