Darned accurate, long battery life, a bit bulky, but hey! I just throw on to tune, I'm not gonna leave it hanging on the headstock for long!

I actually wanted to get one of the TC Electronics tuners, but they were unavailable at the time... the TC's are very good; I have used a frined's several times. A little less dough than the Peterson's, but I don't feel all that confidant sliding the slim TC housing onto my headstock...

I have a Polytune clip-on, Peterson clip-on, and a Snark. I prefer the Snark. I think it's vitally important to mute the other strings when tuning each string with a clip-on.

Snarks have their place. They are relatively cheap, easily replaceable and easy to find. Great for jamming, practicing, casual gigs, etc. For recording, or a gig that matters, the Peterson is more accurate. I have both. One thing that I don't like about snarks is the rubber pad that is supposed to protect the guitar seems to fly off/dissapeare within hours of getting one. Happened on all 3 I have bought.

Peterson.
Nothing else comes close, if you really want to be in tune.
I hear allot of out of tune guitars on forum clips.
Allot of people rely on autotune in their DAW to fix any problems.
I prefer my guitar to be in tune to begin with.

Thanks for the head’s up! Just ordered one. I’ve been waiting....the cheap clip on that I have right now really sucks.

I guess I'm lucky. I hear on here constantly about broken down snarks. I've owned them for years and never had one break. Clip on, tune, take off, set back down. I have a Peterson but it's too much hassle for me most times so I use the snark. I think my battery is dead in my Peterson and I haven't replaced it.

+1 - replaced Snarks after many breaks, stickiness and battery eating issues. Never looked back!

I use both the Peterson and the TC Polytune (I got those before they came out with the Unitune). Both the best clip on tuners I have used. Easy to read, accurate and long battery life for both in my experience.
Best,
Jayne

They all have their issues. I have had Snarks that last for 5 yrs and poly/unitune that go to pushing daisies pretty quick. Petersons are nice but kinda overkill for general practice. My last Peterson broke after a few months so....they all have issues.

I know some people have had a problem with the clip on breaking. Do the other brands never break?
the Snarks definitely have a weak spot where the tuner head meats the neck. I've broken a couple. Plus sometimes you get one that just eats batteries really quickly. Couple that with them being big and bulky and I don't buy them anymore.

TC polytuner FTW for me.

I have 3 Snark tuners all work fine, the newest is 3 years old, the oldest maybe going on 10 years now. I have taken them backpacking, river trips, boundary water trips. 18 days on the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, still works fine. What are you doing to your tuners to break them in a couple of months?

I've had at least three and I fairly certain four Snarks break on me, all at the same spot, one of the three clips holding the unit's head to the body. In fact the last time one broke I contacted Snark and sent a picture. Snark sent me a new tuner. Now that one broke, and I have no idea how. I don't remember dropping it and it never left my room. So I contacted Snark and they offered to send me a replacement for the replacement.

However I now use the smaller HZ-1 that has a redesigned pivot point and I've had no problem with it at all.
