I never understood the popularity of the stroboclip. Yes it is an accurate tuner. However the whole purpose of the clip on tuner is being able to tune in noisy environments.
So when I purchased a stroboclip, I was surprised that I could not use it a gig ... heck if I am in a quiet room, I can use a cell phone app. They are extremely accurate as well ... and free!

I've used my StroboClip and Strobo-Stomp, onstage, in noisy environments with no problem for many years.

I have a box full of tuners from more brands than I can remember, including the vast majority mentioned in this thread. The best, and what I now use exclusively:
Unitune and Polytune.

A thought
I had the dumb luck of buying a Unitune when it was offered as a one-day sale item. Before that, a collection of Snarks. When these come available, I suggest the Unitune as a just-plain-works-nice tuner. Clamp is sturdy, it folds up nice, it can inhabit a shirt pocket and not feel oppressive, and it can happily inhabit my gig bag's little outside compartment without fear of its getting damaged.
Failing that, I've bought dirt-cheap tuners off of Ebay. Worked just as well as the Snarks I threw into a drawer. |

As for the extremely cheap tuners, I bought a Joyo tuner off Aliexpress maybe a couple years ago. The tuner worked fine. I think with shipping it came to something like $2. But that was then and now they're about $6 to $7. I gave it away a few days ago as part of a wedding present to my former stepdaughter, along with an electric guitar, a strap, a Kyser capo (I didn't like that strong spring any way) a spare set of strings, an instrument cable, some picks and a Fender gig bag.

I got a couple of the small D'Addario clip-on tuners for Christmas. They seem to work well overall, but do not pick up the low E very well for some reason. But they are a definite improvement over both the red and black Snarks I've been using for years.

This. Mine has outlasted 3 or 4 Snarks.

Santa brought me a TC Electronics Unitune. It is very fast and accurate. Prior to this I had been using an Intellitouch TC10 for probably a dozen years.

Just snagged a Peterson Strobotune at Sweetwater on sale for $59. No affiliation, just FYI...
