rehearsal studio advice

Hello,
I would appreciate any advice. I practice at home but have a crappy apartment in someones house, how it is here. Still cost a fortune. Anyway, I am looking for a cheap place where I can walk in, set up my zoom recorder and record demos of myself and acoustic guitar. I live on long island NY. NYC is close enough but Im looking at 20 30 bucks an hour. Just looking for advice, schools offer rooms? Are there places made for this type of thing? Most seem to be set up for bands, I just need a sound proof or quiet room for a couple hours. Hopefully you get what im saying here. THanks again
