I have just found a method to dull down bright strings
It has proberly been a method for centuries but I have just found it out after trying all sorts of strings to / for my ears make, my Furch 23 sound a little lest bright I have tuned down to 432 instead of the 440 .. it works , sound great the bottom E is not so tinitius to my ears, and the bass is better than dropped D ,for me anyway ...... 👍

Use some hand cream before playing new strings. They will become dull one minute or less.

... or buy some warm sounding strings like GHS Silk & Bronze, John Pearse Silk & Phos or Thomastik-Infeld Plectrums or La Bella Silk & Steel.

Tuning down a little is no big deal - unless you play with others or record with any keyboards that will not tune to that setting.
